About Camp

Its been a while, yeah, kind of on purpose. I am always amazed at how Big Stone Camp for Christ is provided for. The storm that occurred the friday of the second week sent the staff and the remaining campers into the bathroom, and took out trees and power lines, and some buildings throughout Ortonville, but camp didn't lose a single tree. We were blessed this year to have 133 campers during the 3 weeks of camp, with 32 first time campers.   And at least a couple young boys come to Christ, with many others coming out to pray during Thursday Night Chapel. Praise God. Numbers are great, and interesting, but they don't tell the whole story. I watched young men grow up. I watched a brotherhood form. I saw the response of first time counselors and speakers, as they "got camp". Camp is a sacred place to me, I find God there, I get some time of clarity, it is so great to know that others have that same experience. I remember what this whole life is all about. As I w...

If only a god could speak into our world...

 "I used to write like I had something to say." I will never stop writing lines such as these. Who I was will always be a fool. A man who knew less than he ought to. A man who could not know enough. I am thankful to always be learning more. But it makes stating anything definitively quite difficult. I will always revise my words, my thoughts. My best thought will change. Human words and reason are of limited value to me. We are far too conditional. We think of all things relative to ourselves. We are limited by experience, our background, our money, our language. There is nothing which does not limit us. If you were to travel extensively, see it all, know all cultures, all countries, all language. Well, then you'd be limited by your affluence. There is no ideal. There is no great perspective. If anything, the poor and the broken see more clearly. If only a god could speak into our world. If only He had something to say. Ramblin' Wednesday

There are trying times in life. And its weird, because I feel like everything has been going well. I feel that I am more prepared than maybe I've ever been. I feel like I'm growing to the point where I am not forgetful. I am writing most every day, I feel like I am making a difference at the school. I am growing up. I am able to research and write messages about what I care about for every Sunday. I've had some great meetings lately. I know that I am growing as a story-teller, as a brother, as a short-style message creator, and as a husband. I am doing better at reaching out than ever before. And yet there are imperfections. There are so many ideals that I would like to attain. I want my friends to get along. I want my family to be one. I want to have time for that and more. I'm sure it all comes with time. I don't just want for my happiness anymore. Thats big for me. Also, is it just me, or is it hilarious when "kids" are arguing over their pickup...
